Finally our cruise ended and we arrived at Valparaiso Chile. We looked for hotels on the internet, but most of them were filled. Sandra, our friend who lives in Santiago and who is a ranking officer in the Chilean army got us in to the Hotel Militar for a night. We found a little shuttle bus that was willing to take us all to Santiago for a very reasonable price. The next day we moved to a beautiful bed and breakfast that is run by one of Sandra’s friends. Thank you so much to Sandra, who spent much time taking care of us all. We drove up in the mountains to a ski resort (it is summer and the resort is closed). It was a stunning drive onto the mountains on little switch back roads. We spent a lot of time running around trying to get my cell phone sorted out - since it is still not working... Anyway, Mark and Julie were wonderful and put up with it all. On the 25th Mark and Julie left to go home. Greg me Ciaran and Aodhan went on the cable cars in the mountains and then found a lovely asian restaurant that night near our hotel. The next day we took the bus across to Mendoza, Argentina.
