Margaritaville

Wastin’ away again in margaritaville

Searching for my lost shaker of salt

Some people claim that there's a woman to blame

But I know it's nobody’s fault

I don't know the reason

I stayed here all season

Nothin to show but this brand new tattoo

But it's a real beauty

A Mexican cutie

How it got here I haven't a clue

Some people claim that there's a woman to blame

Now I think

Hell, it could be my fault

Well, yes, we definitely are in the land of tequila! From the double Margarita that they served Ciaran on his 14th birthday, to the three triples that they served him in Yelapa, we are definitely not in Kansas anymore. They smiled and asked him how old he was, and without missing a beat he looked the guy straight in the eye, smiled and said 19. The guy broke into a broad grin and said, “well thas great señor, ‘cause the drinkin’ age in Mexico, is only 12 years old, so we’ll make yours a triple”. And he did. Everything they served out there was triples. Our whole meal, including enough alcohol to create quite a rosy glow, came to $200 pesos per couple - or about $16. To be fair, Ciaran almost always orders his Margaritas, or other drinks sin alcohol (without alcohol) and Aodhan is apoplectic about the possibility of some alcohol ending up in his drink. My philosophy is that they will eventually drink with or without a responsible person around. I would like them to know their limits before they drink with their buddies, and hopefully they will end up being one of the responsible ones in the group, or maybe like most other things, the whole idea will backfire and they will end up depressed alcoholics with psychological problems that they blame on their mother - oh wait, that’s me, and my mother said no to alcohol...

A Shirley Temple for Aodhan

Making Margaritas at home - Ciaran adds lemon peel to his recipe (by the way, lemons are green in Mexico). He has started now to add a little grenadine too - which makes beautiful pink Margaritas with tiny green flecks of lemon peel. Que rico!

No alcohol for Aodhan!

After dinner and drinks in Yelapa, Ciaran was eager to try on Gram's new dress on Al's yacht Sunseeker on the way back to Nuevo Vallarta!

Aodhan holding an iguana on the beach at Yelapa. The guy got to the kids just as they got off the boat and had already handed them the iguana when I got there. Then he said that he worked for the restaurant that we were eating at and the pictures were complementary. I guess he meant the pictures would complement our meal, because they sure weren't free. He wanted $20 for taking the pictures - I settled and gave him $5. Bienvenedos a Yelapa. Sure glad it's not my first rodeo. I also got sucked into buying a really nice necklace for $15 - I really did like it, but... it broke the first time I wore it. It may still be worth it - it just needs a new clasp.

I blew out my flip-flop

Stepped on a pop-top

Cut my heel had to cruise on back home

But there's booze in the blender

And soon it will render

That frozen concoction that helps me hang on

Yes and some people claim that there's a woman to blame
